If you’re vacationing at Ko Olina on the west side of Oʻahu, you’re already in one of the most beautiful, relaxing areas on the island. With calm coves, palm trees, luxury resorts, and golden light, it’s no surprise that many families, couples, and expecting parents choose to schedule their Hawaii photo session right here in Ko Olina.

As a full-time Oʻahu family photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless sessions at Secret Beach on a weekly basis—and here’s why this location is a favorite for my clients staying at Koolina.

Unlike some of the island’s windward (east) beaches that are more prone to passing showers and stronger winds, Ko’olina tends to be drier and less windy year-round. No need to wake up extra extra early to fight traffic. Just get up, get dressed, and either drive (2-3 min down the road if you’re in koolina) or walk to your photo session – meeting spot is near Aulani/Four Seasons.

It’s one of the most convenient places for a vacation photo session at Koolina—especially if you’re trying to keep your trip stress-free.

🌅 3. Sunrise Light + Quiet Beaches

I only offer sunrise photo sessions at Ko Olina, and here’s why:

You’ll enjoy soft, indirect light during the first 30–45 minutes after sunrise, which is flattering and beautiful.
As golden hour progresses, the sun clears the hotel line and you’ll also get some direct morning light, perfect for those dreamy, sunlit palm tree shots.
If you book a 60-minute session, you’ll likely experience both types of light—a nice blend of glowy and golden.
For shorter sessions, the light you get depends on that morning’s conditions—but no matter what, I’ll help you get the best angles possible.

Plus, sunrise means fewer people on the beach, fewer distractions, and a calmer, more intimate vibe for your photos.
