Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many images will we choose from? : Around 30+ images is the average number of proofs you can view to select your favorites from (for a mini).
The more cooperative both the adults and kids are, the more variety of images you will have in your gallery. I have experience photographing all ages, HOWEVER shy, or more active kids may require a little more time. If you are focused on getting good portraits vs candids with shy or very active little ones, I recommend booking two mini sessions back-to-back.
Q: Where will we meet at the location?
There will be information shared with you prior to your session. I will also have an assistant meeting you and walking you to me, so that the sessions run smoothly and on time. It is definitely important for everyone to arrive early to find parking, so that all sessions run on time.
Q: What if there is smoke due to wildfires? : Sessions will proceed as scheduled if the AQI is below 155. If the AQI is higher, sessions will be rescheduled. If you’re not available on the rescheduled date, you’ll receive a credit with Marissa HB Photography to use toward a future session.
Q: What if it rains? : Marissa will determine if a reschedule is needed. If you can’t make the new date, you’ll receive a credit with Marissa HB Photography for a future session. These dates were carefully chosen with typical weather patterns in mind, though of course weather is outside of our control.
Q: How long will it take to receive my proofing gallery? : Proofing galleries are delivered within 30 days. This is part of the reason I’ve chosen an early fall date—so you’ll have time to order holiday cards. For November, the turnaround time is around 7-10 days.
Q: Who are these mini sessions for? : Mini sessions are great for families, couples, maternity, graduating seniors, and headshots. If you have more than two children, the session may take slightly longer, and cooperation is key. For families with three or more children under age four, I recommend booking two mini sessions back-to-back for the best experience.
Q: Can I move my photo session time/date or cancel? Sessions are non-refundable. If you’re sick or unable to attend, you may:
+ Reschedule (if I have availability)
+ Gift or sell your session to another person (I will provide you with a gift card)
+ Receive a gift card to use for a future session in Hawaiʻi or the SF Bay Area
