When a family prepares to move away from Hawai‘i, the desire to capture their memories here becomes even more meaningful. This sweet family reached out wanting something truly special: a sunrise photo session in Waikiki with their 1-month-old baby… and Santa.

With my guidance, they hired the perfect Hawai‘i-style Santa — barefoot, cheerful, wearing festive island attire, and carrying his classic naughty + nice list. Together, we planned a peaceful sunrise session near the Hilton Hawaiian Village, with Diamond Head and soft pastel clouds glowing behind the family.

🎄 A Special Holiday Session Before a Big Move

For this family, Hawai‘i has been home, and they wanted to remember it in the most magical way before relocating. Adding Santa to their newborn session made the experience even more heartfelt and fun — a true island-style Christmas memory.

Santa arrived in shorts and an aloha shirt, blending perfectly with the Waikiki shoreline. Baby girl looked precious in her holiday outfit, and her parents coordinated in classic reds and a Christmas aloha print. It all came together seamlessly.

👶 A Calm + Happy One-Month-Old at Sunrise

Newborns can be unpredictable, both in home or at the beach, but this little one was incredibly calm the entire morning. At just one month old, she was relaxed, cozy, and content — which allowed us to create meaningful portraits with her parents and with Santa.

The soft sunrise light, cooler air, and peaceful beach created the ideal environment for a newborn session.

🌺 Making Sessions Stress-Free for New Parents

Planning a newborn session — especially during a move or a vacation to Hawaii – can feel overwhelming, but my goal is always to make the process easy.

For this family, I helped:

  • Coordinate Santa’s booking

  • Choose the best location

  • Provide info on how to prepare for a beach newborn and family photo session

  • Plan around lighting, and weather (its almost always perfect weather – that morning it said it would rain and we ended up with no rain and beautiful clouds! )

  • Create a calming, baby-led environment (baby was older, and typically older babies will not be as sleepy, but she did so well!) with guidance on how to prep so the session runs as smoothly as possible.

The result for this photo session? A smooth, peaceful morning and a gallery full of beautiful moments.
