10 Best Breakfast Spots in Kailua
If you’re planning a visit to the charming town of Kailua on Oahu, you’re in for a treat. Known for its stunning beaches and laid-back atmosphere, Kailua also boasts some of the best breakfast spots on the island. Whether you just finished your photo session at sunrise in Kailua, or you’re looking for a great spot in Kailua here are some of my clients favorite spots.
If you’re staying in Kailua and planning your Oʻahu family photos, you’re in luck — this charming beach town is not only home to some of the island’s most beautiful beaches but also some of the best breakfast spots on Oʻahu. Whether you’re fueling up before your sunrise session at Lanikai or relaxing after your morning shoot, these local gems will start your day right.
As an Oʻahu family photographer, I often recommend Kailua to my clients because of its calm beaches, stunning light, and laid-back local vibe — and honestly, the breakfast scene here is just as amazing as the views.
1. Moke’s Bread and Breakfast
A Kailua staple! Moke’s is known for its famous lilikoi pancakes, corned beef hash, and homey atmosphere. Go early if you’re visiting after a photo session — this spot gets busy fast.
2. Over Easy
A bright, modern spot that locals love. Try the Kailua eggs or the custard French toast for a delicious post-photoshoot treat. Everything here is fresh, creative, and beautifully plated.
3. Cinnamon’s Restaurant
If you love unique pancake flavors, this is your place. Their guava chiffon pancakes and crab cake eggs Benedict are must-tries. It’s family-friendly, with plenty of seating and island charm.
4. Morning Brew
Perfect for a quick stop before heading to the beach. You’ll find acai bowls, avocado toast, and excellent lattes. It’s casual, cozy, and great for kids too.
5. Boots & Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen
Famous island-wide for their macadamia nut pancakes, Boots & Kimo’s is pure comfort food. Just note: it’s cash only and expect a wait — but it’s worth it.
6. Kalapawai Café & Deli
Stylish, coastal, and just steps from Kailua Beach. Their breakfast sandwiches and parfaits are fresh, easy, and perfect for takeout before a sunrise session.
7. Goen Dining + Bar
For a more upscale brunch, try Goen (especially on weekends). The ahi benedict and tropical mimosas are local favorites. Ideal for couples celebrating after a morning session.
8. Lanikai Juice Kailua
Fast, healthy, and refreshing — acai bowls, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices make it a perfect stop after your photo shoot or morning hike.
9. The Food Company
A hidden gem for hearty local breakfasts. Try the loco moco, Portuguese sausage plates, or pancakes. It’s small but always delicious.
10. Nalu Health Bar & Café
Organic, colorful, and light — this is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The breakfast wraps, avocado toast, and smoothies hit the spot after your beach session.
Tip from Your Oʻahu Family Photographer
If you’re planning your Kailua or Lanikai family photos, I recommend booking your session at sunrise — it’s calm, bright, and peaceful, with the softest morning light. You’ll also beat the crowds and can head straight to one of these breakfast spots afterward for a relaxing start to your day.
