Thinking about visiting one of the Hawaiian islands with your family? Deciding on which island to visit?

Here’s a little info on each of the islands:

Oahu– Oahu has it all in my opinion. Hiking, some kid-friendly museums, beaches, waterpark, dole plantation tours, kid-friendly snorkeling spots, shopping (largest outdoor mall in US), relaxing on the beach or at your hotel. Experience something more country or more city- stay in the less populated areas in Ko’olina or the North Shore (Disney’s Aulani is in Ko’olina), or stay in the middle of it all in Waikiki. Much more spots to eat here and things to do here since there are more people living on Oahu vs. the other islands.

Maui– My favorite island to relax and getaway (keep in mind, I’m from Oahu). There’s beautiful snorkeling, not too country (like Kauai or Big Island), a little shopping if you need, amazing resorts, Mama’s Fish House (you can’t miss this), Haleakala (sunrises are beautiful!), West Maui Mountains (the drive is gorgeous), Road to Hana (if you want to go on a beautiful adventure- its a long drive so maybe not as ideal for kids who hate the car?). 

Kauai– Go here to relax, do some tubing down a sugar canal, lots of pretty beaches, Waimea Canyon which is like a mini Grand Canyon, fun boat tours (most are good for age 2+). Shout out to Blue Dolphin tours! We had a chance to experience both Makana and Blue Dolphin tours on the same trip and we loved Blue Dolphin the most. Big Island– Hawaii Volcano National Park, Beach/Relax (not as many kid friendly beaches)

Lanai– Beach/Relax!
