Every beach on Oahu has its own personality, and Sandy Beach offers a look that’s completely different from Waikiki or Ko Olina.

Although the waves here are known for their powerful shore break, we stay safely away from the water while still capturing the beauty of the coastline in the background.
One of my favorite things about this location is how peaceful it feels during the early morning hours. Sunrise sessions often provide beautiful light and fewer visitors, creating a relaxed experience for expecting parents.

This paved scenic trail offers breathtaking coastal views and is one of Oahu’s most popular lookout points. The gradual incline makes it a great option for many expecting parents, depending on how they’re feeling and after consulting with their healthcare provider.
Hanauma Bay Lookout
Even if you aren’t snorkeling, the lookout above Hanauma Bay provides one of the island’s most iconic views and makes a wonderful stop while exploring Oahu’s east side.
Koko Marina
After your session, enjoy a relaxed breakfast or lunch overlooking the marina. It’s a great place to unwind while taking in the peaceful waterfront atmosphere.
Halona Blowhole Lookout
Located just minutes from Sandy Beach, this scenic overlook showcases dramatic lava cliffs and ocean views that are especially beautiful during sunrise.

Is Sandy Beach safe for maternity photos?
Absolutely. While the waves can be very strong, we photograph well away from the shoreline if its too strong. The beach provides beautiful scenery without requiring you to enter the water.
What should I wear?

What time of day is best?
Sunrise is my favorite time to photograph Sandy Beach because the light is golden, and the beach is typically much quieter. However, sunset is possible at this beach as well. The sun sets on the other side of the island so keep that in mind.
